I never thought that I could enjoy a festival the size of Blissfield (5,000 attendees) so much.
For years we have been putting off attending a small festival and rather opted for the likes of Reading Festival, Bestival & Womad.
As they say ‘Size doesn’t matter’. Blissfields is the festival in England with probably the most diverse range of entertainment, that much despite it’s size. The acts were all great – just struggling to single out the best act of the whole festival.
Friday & Saturday headliners ‘Everything Everything’ & ‘Dizzee Rascal’ were frankly fabulous. The Dub Pistols, were brilliant as they returned to play on Saturday and Swim Deep, Roni Size, HONNE, Shy FX impressive!
But Lets start with the headlines…
Everything Everything, The Manchester Mercury Prize nominated group, brought a great summer feel to the festival and disregardless of some issues with their sound, they were amazing. The harmony vocals were likewise fabulous, and yes, the lead singer can sing that high live! If you already know their album, you’ll know that there is quite a variety of styles there, and you know what I am talking about.
On Saturday the whole festival seems to charge towards the main stage, leaving the bars, Craft area desolate and nothing but empty chairs & plastic bags around Camping.
It was the time of Dizzee Rascal, the closing act on the main stage, What can I say? Absolutely great, with Tracks like ‘Holiday’ and ‘Bonkers’ that brought the crowd singing & dancing to the lyrics and the London legend ended a truly great festival.
There really was something for everyone here, with such a friendly family vibe mixed in with the party. Angel Gardens is the core place for all family activities, which is open directly to a large yard full of giant bubbles, mini circus and clown shows for the delight of children whilst the Craft Area is the perfect place to entertain the children and make all kinds of creations. Blissfields is also classed as off-site learning, btw, a big cheer to that, so you can request a letter from the festival to allow kids to attend without missing a day off school. Bravo!
Blissfields is high on the list for next years must attend list. Without even knowing your music taste, age, friends and preferences, we confidently recommend now that Blissfields is for you; designed in such a way that it will not fail in offering every one great entertainment.
