The organiser of a major musical festival in Oxfordshire has announced next year’s event will be the last.
The three-day event, which takes place at Great Tew, near Chipping Norton will celebrate one last year, before packing up for good.
Attracting tens of thousands of music lovers, celebrities, Royals and even the former Prime Minister David Cameron, Cornbury Music Festival it has been one of Timbageek’s favourites.
Cornbury Music Festival (also known as “Poshstock” because of its well-heeled clientele began in 2004 and has seen appearances from Amy Winehouse, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison and most recently Seal and All Saints.
It had repeatedly failed to break even due to the heavy competition in the area from other festivals such as Wilderness, at Cornbury Park, and the Big Feastival, on Alex James’s farm at Kingham, near Chipping Norton.
Festival director Hugh Phillimore has posted the below message on cornbury’s website :
Having thought long and hard, I’ve made the difficult decision that next year’s 14th Cornbury Festival will be the last. We’ve had a fantastic run – a marvellous annual party – and we’re looking forward to going out on a real high note.
We’re pulling out ALL the stops for The Fabulous Finale. There will be all the usual great stuff, an array of top talent, friends old and new, and maybe even a few sparklers at the end.
We’re really, really proud of what we’ve created with your support, and grateful that we’ve been able to benefit many local causes over the years. Most of all we love celebrating together on the beautiful Great Tew Estate and can’t wait to do it one more time.
Our Early Bird offer opens Friday 28th October at 9am, so please come to join us for our final party. We’ll send you a little reminder, but in the meantime further info and ticket prices can be found here.
See you there
Let’s all support 2017 The Fabulous Finale Cornbury Music Festival
